Our children don't have school this week so we thought we'd take advantage of that and go to the beach during a week when nobody is having a spring break. And we happened to pick several days of good weather. At least so far. The girls did really good on the drive here. Usually we only get 30 minutes down the road and everyone is arguing with each other and asking if we're there yet. That didn't happen this time until we made it to Lincoln city.
The first thing the girls wanted to do was get down on the beach and get in the water. They don't seam to care that it's cold outside and the water's cold. As soon as we hit the sand they had their shoes and socks off. I rolled up some pant legs and off they went. Kinzley stayed by me in the dry sand. Within three minutes Audrey went down on her hands and knees in the water because she tripped while running away from a wave. She's always the one who gets completely wet.
Because of the wind and the wet feet the girls were ready to go back in after 20 minutes. We walked back to the house, had them remove their wet clothes outside and then change into some dry ones inside. Kinzley asked if she could put her PJ's on. Then everyone else wanted to as well. So by 3:00 in the afternoon all the kids were in their pajamas and ready for bed. We spent the rest of the day inside looking at the beautiful view of the ocean from the picturesque windows in the front room.
We wrapped up the day with something I don't see very often at the Oregon coast. The sun set into the ocean. All the way in. It didn't set into a cloud bank above the horizon, it actually went into the water. Now it's time for some ice cream and see what's on TV.
